Senior Backend Engineer (PHP / Symfony)

We are looking for an engineer who has seen what happens to a system two years after launch and writes code accordingly.

You will work on projects lasting more than six months, in teams of four to eight people, with direct access to the end client. There are no management layers between you and the technical decision.

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing backend services in PHP 8 and Symfony
• Taking part in architecture decisions and writing ADRs
• Reviewing colleagues' code and mentoring less experienced engineers
• Contributing to estimates and technical discussions with the client

Requirements

• At least five years of backend development experience, two of them with Symfony or an equivalent framework
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and query optimisation
• Hands-on experience writing automated tests
• The ability to explain a technical decision to a non-technical audience
• Professional level English

Nice to have

• Experience with systems in the financial or healthcare sector
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code
• Open-source contributions
